Victor Santa Maria
My name is Victor Santa Maria, and I am from Chile.
In the principle, I wanted go to USA, but finally I prefer "Boys' High" because of its very successful rugby history.
When I arrived on my first day of school, they presented me students and teachers very welcoming, so I felt better very quickly.
When I arrived in New Zealand, my English was not the best, I must admit it was very bad, but the school teachers and the students were very patient to explain me everything.
I was lucky that there were other international students, from South Africa, Italy and France, who were my friends until I finished my time in New Zealand.
In my first rugby practice, I was very nervous, because I didn’t know how they would receive me. But luckily they received me very well, and I was forming friendship with some of them that were also in my Maori class which was very fun, because had very funny students.
In general the New Zealand people were very welcoming with me, so I felt accustomed very quickly and more sure. Also, I must say thanks a lot to my homestay family because I think we formed a great relationship, and also they always helped me with my English and everything.
Thank you very much to every one, especially my host family. I hope to see you again
Victor.
