Boarding Fee Notice - 2013
Having now prepared the 2013 Operating Budget for the Hostel, we advise that the boarding fee for 2013 is $13,320. This is a 6.73% increase from 2012.
The Adams House Committee is taking all appropriate and necessary measures to control the operating costs of the Hostel. However, there have been a number of cost areas that have increased significantly during the current year, particularly repairs & maintenance on a building that is beginning to age, insurance up another 15% due to the earthquake, electricity, and a computer network that is also being fully upgraded to provide ultra fast wireless broadband.
The Hostel Committee strives to provide a very high standard of boarding accommodation for your son and your continuing support of Adams House is appreciated.
You may be interested in why the final fee payment is required by July 20th. The reason is that expenditure at Adams House is not evenly distributed throughout the year. Much of the capital expenditure and equipment purchases are required in the first few months of the year. By July the vast majority of the income from fees has been spent. The final payment in July provides working capital to continue payments for standard operating expenditure such as food, wages, insurance, electricity etc.
