Weight Training Facilities
The Fitness Centre is located between the tennis courts and the main gym. It contains all the equipment for a balanced, effective resistance training programme. The facility has a lot of modern equipment that requires specific instruction for proper and safe use.

Supervision, Induction and Programmes
Induction
- An induction session is compulsory for all new members. Students who have been members from previous years need only renew their membership
- Inductions will be held throughout the year, more often in Term One
- Most induction sessions will be run by the Fitness Supervisor after school from Monday to Thursday
Programmes
- Training Programme cards will be available to members and can be stored in the Fitness Centre. It is recommended that all members use them to record their training sessions
What is Weight Training?
Weight training, or resistance training, is a type of conditioning which involves lifting or moving sub-maximal weights in a repetitive fashion. Sub-maximal weights are those that can be taken through a full range of joint motion, three or four times. The major benefits of such training are:
- increased muscle strength
- improved joint stability
- improved flexibility
- improved motor skills
- improved physical performance
- increased muscle endurance
- positive psychological effects
