Health Programme Survey

Every year the Health department at Christchurch Boys' High School reviews the teaching topics covered in Health lessons. Presently we are reviewing and modifying the current Health programme for 2011 and would like to consult the school community on its thoughts and opinions on what should be taught to our students. This online consultation survey has been prepared to gain feedback and opinion in order to make decisions to deliver the best content and information to the students of Christchurch Boys' High School.

At present the following broad topics are covered in Health

Year Nine
  1. Hauora - Well being
  2. Bullying - Why does it occur? Who does it, what can be done to stop it?
  3. Smoking - facts and effects, influences, contents of cigarettes, how to quit
  4. Conflict and Stress - What is conflict, how to resolve it, the role of the Guidance Counsellor, stress and relaxation.
  5. Introduction to Sexuality - Relationships and keeping ourselves safe
Year Ten
  1. Hauora - Well Being
  2. Alcohol - Facts and effects, standard drinks, decision making, consequences, assertiveness, alcohol and advertising, Alcohol and the law

Consultation with the community is one of a number of ways in which Christchurch Boys' High School make informed decisions about the Health programme. Other ways include student and teacher feedback, present topical issues and the New Zealand Health and Physical Education curriculum.
Please complete the following online survey.

  1. Do you think these topics are appropriate to be covered? Why/why not?

  2. What other topics do you think need to be covered?

  3. What do you think the most important Health related issues are facing your son today?

  4. Do you think Health at other year levels at school is important? (Year 11-13)

  5. Do you think Health at Christchurch Boys' High School is satisfying the needs of your son? Why/why not?

  6. Any other comments or further input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
