Health & Safety Committee Policy

The Heath & Safety Committee is a sub-committee of the CBHS PTA, and the PTA
will appoint representatives to the committee annually at the first full
meeting after the PTA AGM.
Policy
The CBHS PTA is committed to providing a healthy and safe working
environment for its employees and volunteers, and ensuring that there is no
harm to the environment.
Objectives
- To develop, maintain and implement EH& S (Environmental, Health &
Safety) systems on behalf of CBHS PTA.
- To ensure compliance with National and Local Body requirements.
- To liase with CBHS on Health and Safety issues.
- To report to PTA on EH&S issues.
- To administer and follow up on any investigations relating to occupational
Health & Safety & Environmental issues.
- Ensuring volunteers are not exposed to any hazards that might be a risk to
their health & safety,
Committee will achieve these objectives by
- Identifying resources required to support a safe & healthy workplace.
- Involving employees of PTA in developing and maintaining a safe &
healthy workplace through consultation.
- Require from the full Committee of the PTA advice of any events so that
Health and Safety issues can be considered.
- Implement a Hazard Identification & Control program.
- Provide adequate information to employees to ensure they work safely.
- Ensure there are procedures in place in case of emergency.
- Have a process & procedure in place to record and investigate all
accidents, and notify the appropriate authorities in case of serious harm.
- Ensure all paid employees are adequately trained.
- Ensure volunteers are adequately trained and/or provided appropriate
information to ensure their Health & Safety as required.
- Ensure employees and volunteers understand their own obligations and
responsibilities to work safely.
- Regular meeting of Health & Safety subcommittee. (At least 6 monthly).
