Steve Fraser

Steve started as a Senior Master at Christchurch Boys’ High School in 2002 after previously being Assistant Principal at St Thomas of Canterbury College for five years, as well as holding various roles at Aranui High School in the years preceding that.

Steve’s interests in sport has seen him coach and manage junior and senior volleyball teams each year during the summer terms and he has been Teacher in Charge of this sport in 2015. He managed the 1st XV Rugby team from 2003-2005 and 2009–2011 and rates the first stint as particularly enjoyable with the teams winning two National titles, one International title and bringing the Moascar Cup back into the South Island for the first time in decades.

Steve’s responsibilities include staff induction, teacher trainees, personnel matters, appraisal and oversight of payroll and Novopay issues. He also liaises with groups such as the PTA, Old Boys’ Association and the Whanau group – all incredibly strong, vibrant supporters of the School. In the past Steve has coordinated major events such as ANZAC Day, the Christ’s College match, parent teacher meetings, assemblies and prize-givings but his role now has more of an HR focus.

Steve has been teaching the Social Studies course since 2015 to Year 9 e-learning classes and is enjoying the possibilities for learning that this brings.
