CBHS Gold Blazer Awards – Sport

CBHS Gold Blazer Awards

Gold Blazer pockets are awarded for exceptional merit at schoolboy, U18 or U20 level. The recipient has been selected for a New Zealand squad at one of these levels and in a sport that CBHS has a 1st team competing, or a squad that competes at a South Island or national championship.

The recipient is entitled to have the sport that they represented the school in embroidered in Gold on their blazer pocket.
The recipients of a gold blazer over the winter sports programme are:

Ryan Ko

Ryan has represented CBHS Squash since 2018 as a Year 9 student. Incredibly, over this period he has been awarded the Winterbourne Cup as the CBHS Senior Squash Champion every year.

Ryan has been the Canterbury Secondary Schools Squash Champion for three straight years and was this year selected in the New Zealand Secondary Schools team with the further distinction of being named captain of this team.

Ryan is more than a worthy recipient of a Gold Blazer pocket for his service to the schools squash programme, and for his NZ selection.

Harry Nossiter

Harry played in his second year of the CBHS 1st XV this year, and has represented the school since 2018.

Playing at Number 8 Harry has faced challenges this year after breaking his thumb early in the season. As a testament to his attitude and dedication Harry fought his way back to be available for the Miles Toyota play-offs and was then rewarded with selection in the Junior Crusaders squad.

Selection in the NZ U18 Barbarians followed for games against Fiji Schools and the NZ U18 Maori team.

For his success Harry is awarded a Gold Blazer for rugby in 2022.
