Several scholarships are available for Christchurch Boys’ High School students who go on to study at university.
There are four scholarships available by application.

Awarded to students intending to study for a Bachelor of Commerce (can be continued for up to three years) |

Awarded to student/s intending to study Medicine at an established Medical School in NZ |

Awarded to student/s intending to study Science at Canterbury University |

Sir Arthur Sims Scholarship |
Awarded to students undertaking a degree at Lincoln University (an be continued in subsequent years) |
There are further scholarships awarded to students (no application required).

$1000 awarded for each NCEA Scholarship gained (awarded to those attending Canterbury University) |

Awarded to a student intending to study Chemistry at Canterbury University (on the recommendation of the HOD Science) |
Students intending to go to university are encouraged to check the criteria and lodge an application if they meet the criteria.

Applications can be emailed scholarships@cbhs.nz or posted to the school. The closing date is 28 February 2026. Confirmation of University enrolment and courses taken will be required with the application form.
All scholarship awards will be presented at a
CBHS Scholarship Assembly in May 2026.
