Sport at CBHS
Sport at Christchurch Boys’ High School supports our Blue Black values and exists to provide opportunities for the development of high-quality relationships and experiences that enhance the character of our fine young men as they aspire towards outstanding achievement. CBHS is equitable and inclusive in its offering of sporting opportunities and because of the value of sport to the development of students at CBHS, retention in sport is a key focus.
The purpose of sport at CBHS is to:
a) Promote and enhance the school’s values, mission and vision
b) Develop character, courage and care
c) Support academic achievement
d) Build relationships and community.
All students are encouraged to take up sporting opportunities regardless of ability, and all participants (students and adults) are expected to adhere to the school’s values.
Christchurch Boys’ High School staff, parents and wider community members devote many hours to coaching and managing school sports' teams. The involvement of good people in the lives of our boys through sport is central to the development of our boys into fine young men.

Opportunites
A Wide Range Of Sports
We offer a wide range of sports to cater for the different interests and talents of our boys.
On the field, the emphasis is not only on the acquisition of skills, but also on friendship, perseverance and sportsmanship. CBHS strives to win both on and off the field.
All boys can play in sporting competitions internally and against other schools. Our top teams compete throughout the region and the country.
In addition to the extracurricular sports programme, Physical Education is part of the curriculum for all boys until the end of Year 10. The Physical Education programme incorporates physical fitness and general sports skills. Physical Education plays an important role in promoting class discipline and a healthy lifestyle.
