ERA determination.
The Employment Relations Authority has now released its decision, and we are happy with its findings. We are pleased that this long-running employment matter has now concluded.
The Authority found that there was no unjustified dismissal and the central issues raised were not upheld. It did however identify a single, procedural issue relating to how engagement was handled, deciding that in this instance, the Board did not adequately address Mrs Mowat’s concerns. Compensation of $25,000 has been awarded.
The Board is pleased that no other negative findings were made in relation to how Mrs Mowat was treated nor in relation to Headmaster Nic Hill.
This matter has been considered by successive Boards over a number of years. With the Authority’s determination now issued, the Board considers the matter concluded and is focused on moving forward.
The Board remains committed to the wellbeing of its staff and students and to fair and respectful employment practices.
We acknowledge Headmaster Nic Hill for his dignity and leadership throughout this period.
