Road Cycling, Track Cycling, and MTB National Championships

Over the school holiday period CBHS sent teams to Fielding for the NZ Secondary Schools Road Championships, Invercargill for the NZ Secondary Schools Track Championships and Bluff hosted the National Schools Mountain Bike Championships from 13 – 16 October.

School Road Nationals – Fielding

During the last two days of Term 3, the road cycling team competed in the School Road Nationals that took place in Fielding. The small team of 11 riders performed very well in the various road and points races over 3 days, in different age groups, enabling the team to place 6th in the country.

School Track Cycling Nationals

Four representatives from the CBHS Track Cycling Team headed down south, to compete at the Track Cycling Nationals Championships that were held in Invercargill over the school holidays.

The team showed some outstanding resilience and awesome sportsmanship. Just off the back of the School Road Nationals in Fielding, and as if the Yunca Southern Tour (at Bluff) was not tough enough, the boys carried on straight into this championship. By now the legs were aching, and the body was tired, but spirits remained high.

As this was a combined championship, the boys were working hard to try and get a South Island title and a National title.

School MTB National

In the second week of the school holidays, a team of 8 riders travelled down to Bluff doe the School MTB Champs.

The boys were fantastic and produced some excellent results allowing the team to stand on top of the podium as The Top MTB School in the Country.
